Should i disable marvell controller

I tried everything, several times, read the manual, i CAN'T disable it, it seems.. I'm using BIOS 1. No wonder I could'nt find it This is not the best feature i've seen lol Thanks much for the feedback. In the subsequent 6 series chipset mainboards, the options regarding the Marvell controller were greatly improved.

Joined Sep 14, Messages You can see my specs in my sig below. I am having very, very poor boot times even though I use an SSD drive. The problem appears to be the mobo when cycling through the bios during post.

The mobo boot period takes more than 20 seconds and when the Windows logo appears now the SSD kicks in and the machine finishes its boot cycle in seconds. I am not running a RAID array. I do have all ports on the mobo in use. The SSD being on the Intel controller ports and some of the other drives are on the Marvell controller. Thanks guys! Forceman [H]F Junkie. Otherwise it is turned off and the drives won't be available. Joined Sep 15, Messages 2, You can disable the controller if you want. I believe if you shut it off in the BIOS that will be disabled. I didn't see any negative affect when it comes to boot times with the controller enabled or disabled.

Do you have anything USB connected like a thumb drive, iphone, or card reader? That has made my POST times take longer. Joined Jan 23, Messages 1, I would say turn off the bios graphic as well. Mine used to come up with this sabertooth asus graphic. I turned off my marvell controller but I dont have any drives hooked up too it. It helped my boot time quite a bit. I was wondering if this means that they will not work at all anymore or does that mean that they will work but not with Marvell controlling them.

Apr 6, 47, 1, , 5, If you disable the Marvell controller in the BIOS, you will, in effect, disable those ports on the motherboard. If you have nothing attached to those ports now, it will make no difference in the performance of the devices attached to the Intel ports in any way.

They are separate and distinct from one another. If you are using those ports Marvell now for additional SATA devices, then you will disable those devices. May 18, 4, 1 26, I would leave the controller on. It is to make sure that the two marvel ports run optimally for what ever device you have installed in the ports. You should install an SSD in one of the Intel ports.

Sandforce will not replace Marvell? I do have two ssd in the intel ports already and I have an extra ssd so i was just messing around trying to see where to put it. Nothing will be replaced. The sandforce controller is to make the ssd run right. Just as the marvel controller is to make the sata port function correctly. Sort of like the BIOS to a computer. Maybe driver is a good comparison too. You are most welcome! Have fun!!
